Philadelphia Man Arrested In Toddler's Murder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a toddler in the city's Roxborough section.

Police were called to a home along the 4200 block of Houghton Street early Saturday to find three-year-old Jason Larkin's mom performing CPR on her child.

The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police Lt. Ray Evers says they didn't have to look far for a suspect, and arrested 27-year-old Joseph Zysk.

Evers says, "We believe it's the boyfriend of the mother of the child.  It was blunt force trauma by either a fist or a foot."

Investigators say the boy's tears sent the man into a violent rage.  Evers says the suspect concentrated his blows to Larkin's chest.

"We have a three-year-old who was absolutely defenseless against this male."

Zysk has been charged with Murder, Involuntary Manslaughter and Endangering the Welfare of a child.
