Philadelphia Launches 311 App

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Now available for download, a free app that makes it simple to put Philadelphia government to work for you.
The Philly 311 app, "which I also have on my phone as well," Mayor Nutter says, is in the Apple, Android, and Blackberry stores. Mayor Nutter says he hopes it helps make neighborhoods cleaner and safer.
"Report public service requests on issues like potholes, graffiti, noise violations, litter."
The city spent $20,000 on the app, which also lets you attach photos and track city workers' progress on your issue.
And project manager Tim Wisniewski, the assistant city managing director, says it's social:
"You can also vote on issues, share them on Facebook, Twitter, and you can comment on issues and interact with the people who submitted it."
"We want to make it easy for you, and we understand that you may not have time to wait on hold," and, unlike the 311 phone line, Lily Liu, the CEO of app builder Public Stuff, says it works 24/7.
"Let's start reporting!"
