Philadelphia Is A Wrestlemania Finalist Along With Santa Clara
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia is a step closer to bringing a massive event to town.
According to a report from the San Jose Mercury News, Philadelphia and Santa Clara are the two finalists to host WWE's Wrestlemania in 2015.
The WWE confirmed that Philadelphia submitted a proposal for Wrestlemania, and in July it was reported that Philadelphia was one of five finalists. That number is down to two.
Wrestlemania was last in Philadelphia in 1999, when it was at the then named First Union Center (current Wells Fargo Center). Since then, the event has moved to bigger venues, such as Miami's Sun Life Stadium in 2012, MetLife Stadium in 2013, and will be at the Super Dome in New Orleans in 2013. If Wrestlemania comes to Philadelphia in 2015, it would be at Lincoln Financial Field.
