PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – U.S. News and World Report has released its list of the top hospitals for children and a Philadelphia hospital tops the chart.
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has earned the number one ranking in the magazine's annual guide to the best childrens' hospitals.
CHOP CEO Dr. Steven M. Altschuler says the recognition speaks to the overall quality of the institution.
"We're a very humble and modest organization and I think, for us, it's just a real affirmation that people recognize the hard work and mission orientation of our 10,000 employees toward improving the health of children really worldwide," says Altschuler.
The list recognizes hospitals that are highly competent in at least three specialties. Some of those specialties include cardiology, neonatology and pulmonology.
