Philadelphia Hospital Receives Award For International Work

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals received the Yitzhak Rabin Public Service Award from the Philadelphia-Israel Chamber of Commerce for their accomplishments in clinical care, research and education.
The award was presented at the foundation's annual dinner gala at the Crystal Tea Room in Center City on Thursday evening.
Jefferson Hospitals have collaborated with Israeli companies focusing on healthcare, including early adaptation of the pillcam. The pillcam is a camera built into a pill for use in analyzing and diagnosing gastrointestinal problems.
Jefferson doctors and researchers have also recently visited Israel, planning new partnerships between the local hospitals and overseas companies.
Thomas Jefferson University President Richard Gozon and Jefferson Hospitals President David McQuaid accepted the awards on behalf of the university and hospitals.
