Philadelphia Honey Festival
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - From apples, and almonds to strawberries and zucchini, by pollinating flowers, bees make so much of our food possible. Plus, bees make honey - and you can learn lots more about all of it, this Friday and Saturday, September 9th and 10th, at the 2nd annual Philadelphia Honey Festival.
It all begins Friday at the Wagner Free Institute of Science with morning classes for home-schooled kids about bee hives, honey extraction and pollination; then afternoon classes for adults who'd like to become beekeepers, followed by a Honey Happy Hour for adults with samplings of honey-based microbrews.
Saturday's sweet schedule is packed with activities for kids and adults from honey tastings and pairings, along with honey ice cream and gelato, to garden walks and talks at Bartram's Gardens from 10am to 4pm and the Wyck Historic House and Garden in Germantown from noon to 4 pm.
