Philadelphia Freedoms Kick Off Their Home Court Season

VILLANOVA, Pa., (CBS) - The Philadelphia Freedoms kicked off their home court season Wednesday night at The Pavilion in Villanova.
The Freedoms moved to 0-and-3 after the World Team Tennis franchise opened their home court season with an overtime loss to 2003 U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick and his Springfield Lasers.
In singles play, booming server Sam Groth was no match for Roddick in one of his first matches since retiring from pro tennis.
"It makes me realize that I used to be decent at it," said Roddick. "It's fun - it's different. A lot of good memories come back. It's nice to be offered the opportunity, especially in this format where it's a little more interactive, as far as fans. We want people to have a good time and a good experience."
Philly is next in action on the Main Line on Tuesday, against Washington and former world No. 1 Martina Hingis.
Golden Slam winners the Bryan Brothers and John McEnroe are Freedoms foes later this month.
