Philadelphia Firefighters Rescue 2 People From Burning Historic Home In Fairmount
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia firefighters rescued two people trapped inside a burning home in Philadelphia's Fairmount neighborhood early Tuesday morning. Eyewitness News obtained astonishing cell phone video of the historical home on North 22nd Street engulfed in flames.
Firefighters responded just before 1 a.m.
Video shows fire spitting from the second floor. Officials tell CBS3 when they arrived the fire was also burning on the second floor.
Crews found a 32-year-old woman standing on the roof, waiving for help.
Crews immediately began rescue efforts. Inside the home, they found a 72-year-old man. Both individuals were taken to Jefferson Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Also being treated is a firefighter who fell, he was transported to the hospital.
As neighbors woke up Tuesday morning, many were relieved that these homeowners will eventually be OK.
Meanwhile, officials are still investigating what lead to this gem of a home going up in flames.
