PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - As the weather cools down, these streets are heating up as new collaborations are happening within the Philadelphia Arts scene. The Kimmel Cultural Campus is kicking off its upcoming performances with live shows and fun activities for all ages. They have all audiences covered as they bring shows that you have come to love, as well as new performances to life, right on their stage.

Nothing compares to the energy you feel at a live performance. The anticipation of seeing your favorite show is thrilling and the experience rarely disappoints. That caliber of talent can be found right in our city. On Saturday, Sept. 23, The Kimmel Cultural Campus and Philadelphia Orchestra are proud to present their Philadelphia Fall Arts Fest. It's a party welcoming everyone back to Philadelphia and though they have been around all summer, fall begins their new season. They are hosting all walks of art including performances from Koresh Dance and Philadanco to Philadelphia Jazz and local musicians. It's their version of back-to-school.

This one-day festival is offering free performances which brings in over 80 of the city's artists and cultural organizations together to kick off another year of the vibrant art scene in Philadelphia. In their own words, "We are better together!"

It is their way of reconnecting our community with the world of art by creating new memories in an incredibly fun way. Their free kick-off event invites all ages to a very casual environment, helping to expose a side of the arts you may have not yet experienced. It allows you the freedom to explore and enjoy the arts in a new way no matter your age or ability. Whether you are a music enthusiast, a theatergoer, a dance lover, or looking for a taste of entertainment, the Kimmel Cultural Campus Kick-Off is sure to please all art enthusiasts. Immerse yourself in incredible opportunities that give you a taste of what makes Philadelphia so great! As always, I encourage you to try something new.

Calling all teenagers! This event offers paint activations in correspondence with 'Mean Girls,'  as it makes a return to Philadelphia. It is a Sip and Paint but skip the sip and enjoy the atmosphere of celebrating the comeback. You will also have the rare opportunity to admire breathtaking costumes from Cirque Dreams Holidaze on display. There will be an instrument petting zoo for the littlest of musicians – and I might add a child's favorite! Their faces light up when seeing their favorite noise makers and even more so when trying a new one or two. It is a fabulous way of introducing art and talent to children at such an instrumental age. The engagement team will be nearby to enhance the curiosity of these little minds. One of the best parts of the day will be sampling a full line-up of live performances.

As you know, live performances deliver a special connection between the performers and their audience. Again, these shows include dance, music, international art showcasing and of course theater. Broadway is back in town as Wicked celebrates its 20th anniversary. There truly is something for everyone and they want to talk to you about it. This is their way of reinforcing the arts and making it palatable, educational and accessible. This incredible event allows you to sample some of the world's most renowned shows all in one place.

No need for a rain date. You do not have to worry about the weather. The festival features four indoor venues, so take advantage of this opportunity within the Plaza Stage, Perelman Theater and Verizon Hall. These show performances are a quick peek into the vast variety of shows they offer all year round so take advantage of their amazing offer to purchase discounted tickets for your upcoming event. For those of us that attend, they are offering about 100 shows at a significant discounted rate of $25 at the Kimmel Center Building.

Of course, The Kimmel Cultural Campus always gives us a grand finale. The Kick-Off Event will wrap up with a FREE performance from our very own Grammy-Award Winning Philadelphia Orchestra. Although the show is sold out, arrive early and be a part of the standby line for a chance to get in.

So, come join the fun as they kick off their new 2023/2024 line-up. Take a look at their New Events Calendar and learn the benefits of becoming a subscriber. For dates, times, and tickets, visit kimmelculturalcampus.org.
