Philadelphia Eagles Help Refurbish Another Public School Playground
By Michelle Durham
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's not every day that the entire Philadelphia Eagles football team comes to your school and builds a new playground, but that's what happened today in Southwest Philadelphia at Comegys Elementary School during the 16th annual "Eagles Playground Build."
Principal Lisa Wilmer says the impact of this playground has had a ripple effect inside the school.
"It's already transformed what they believe is possible for them," she says of the students. "The entire Eagles organization came out to give them a playground. And not just a playground but an outdoor classroom where they will learn how to garden, they'll have tables where they will learn chess and checkers, a turf. I'm so grateful," she said.

All the kids were pitching in to help. Nyzhae was mulching and was thrilled to do it, although he still couldn't quite believe it.
"I think it's amazing because the Eagles are helping us," he said.
Members of the Eagles' organization were excited, too.
"I love coming out and rubbing elbows with these little kids, and just seeing the smile on their faces," said wide receiver DeSean Jackson.
"Creating a safe environment for kids to be kids and to play and to dream large dreams and succeed -- that's the goal here," said Eagles co-owner Christina Lurie.
