Mayor Nutter: Three Months Until Philadelphia Trip, Pope Francis "Genuinely Excited"
VATICAN CITY (CBS) --- Philadelphia's delegation in Vatican City met with Pope Francis on Wednesday morning during his weekly Papal audience.
Pope Francis greeted the visitors to the Vatican, which included the delegation from Philadelphia and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.
"To have him come over to our delegation, he was very clear, he knew who he was coming to, Archbishop Chaput right there, Bishop McIntyre, and he was genuinely excited," Nutter said.
Nutter talked about his experience meeting the Pope. "He is so warm, so engaging, but you know quite frankly, he's the Pope so it's a little intimidating," he chuckled. "He's really disarming."
Meeting the Pope was a surprise for the members, and many of them reached out to shake his hand and say hello.
"His acknowledgement of, I mean, smiling, big three fingers up, three months to go I'll be in Philadelphia," Nutter said. "I mean, that's just a great feeling."
