Philadelphia DA Says Public's Help Still Needed In Child Abduction Case
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The investigation continues into the abduction and brutal assault of a 5-year-old West Philadelphia girl last month. With one woman in custody, police continue to search for other suspects.
Authorities are crediting the 5-year-old girl with supplying information that help lead to the arrest of 19-year-old Christina Regusters, who has been charged with a list of offences including kidnapping and rape of the child. Reguesters preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 6th,
Her attorney says its a case of mistaken identity.
But Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams says Reguesters is involved and did not act alone.
"This is a plea to all concerned Philadelphians that may know more about what happened on that tragic day when the 5-year-old was kidnapped from Bryant Elementary School at 60th and Cedar. Other people saw things other people know. If there is anyone who has any information they can call 215-686-TIPS".
An $80,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
