Philadelphia Correctional Officer Assaulted By Inmate
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Officials announced on Thursday that a Correctional Officer within the Philadelphia Prison system was assaulted on Wednesday by an inmate.
The female officer was doing routine cell check at the House of Correction. Authorities say that her injuries require surgery.
Officials have identified the inmate that they believe to be responsible. Authorities say an investigation into the incident is taking place and the inmate could be charged following it.
The officer has been released from the hospital and is recovering.
