Philadelphia Corporation For Aging: Helping Seniors In Need
Imagine going without food, the medications you need to live a healthy or comfortable life, or heat in this cold weather. There are 100,000 seniors living in poverty in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging's emergency fund helped close to 2,000 low-income senior households last year, distributing more than $280,000 dollars to help them with food, medicine and fuel for heating. Right now, the emergency fund has only $8,000 dollars available and there are seniors who are freezing, without heat, that need our help.
