Philadelphia City Council Honors Man Who Fought Crazed NYC Slasher
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Three months after a Philadelphia man subdued a crazed man on a New York City subway -- getting slashed in the process -- our hometown hero was honored today by Philadelphia City Council.
Councilman Curtis Jones read the proclamation honoring Joseph Lozito, 40, who last February subdued a knife-wielding man on a subway near Times Square, after the man had allegedly fatally stabbed three others (see related story).
"The Council of the City of Philadelphia hereby recognizes and honors Joe Lozito of Philadelphia for his courage (and) actions in helping to detain an alleged serial killer in New York," Councilman Jones read.
Lozito (above) still bears the scars on the back of his skull.
"There are days when the headaches don't stop, the scars hurt, they sting, things like that. It's a healing process. Today is three months to the day after it happened," Lozito told KYW Newsradio.

Lozito was hailed as a hero in the Big Apple, but is now suing New York, claiming police there failed to protect him.
