Philadelphia City Council To Address Deteriorating Condition Of City's Police And Fire Stations
By Mike Dunn
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - City Council is planning more hearings on the deteriorating condition of the city's police and fire stations.
It's been the subject of council hearings in past years, but now freshman councilman-at-large David Oh plans to relook at the sorely needed capital improvements of fire and police stations throughout the city.
"We're looking at facilities that have serious problems in terms of accommodating our officers, their morale, and their ability to function as good public servants," said Oh.
No date has been set yet for the hearing. Oh says he recently went on a tour of the 15th police district to see conditions first-hand. He says at the committee hearing, he intends to question administration officials on plans to upgrade not only the facilities, but the equipment and technology of the two departments.
