Philadelphia Catholic High School Teachers Vote To Reject New Contract

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Catholic high school teachers voted to reject a new contract Tuesday. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia says the main sticking point is potential layoffs.

The archdiocese is seeking the right to layoff some of the 500 teachers if enrollment drops more than 3% because of the pandemic.

The archdiocese also offered teachers a $1,200 raise for each year of the two-year contract.

There are 17 archdiocesan high schools.
