Phila. State Senator To Reintroduce Bill On LGBT Discrimination

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In the wake of last week's Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage, a Pennsylvania state senator is looking to reintroduce a bill to remove legal discrimination of the LGBT community here.
Senator Larry Farnese of Philadelphia's First District, has introduced bills in the last three legislative sessions to make discrimination illegal in Pennsylvania.
It's never passed but he is hopeful that the momentum of last week's Supreme Court decision may change that.
"Under Pennsylvania law, it is permitted to deny someone a service or a job, based simply upon the way they live their lives." said Farnese. "You can discriminate in Pennsylvania based simply upon who someone loves, and that is wrong."
Farnese says he believes this kind of discrimination in Pennsylvania is a detriment to economic growth.
He says in the last 4 years under Governor Corbett, the state fell to 49th out of the 50 states in job creation.
