Phila. School District Delays Debut of Its Buildings-For-Sale Web Site
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The goal was today. But now, the School District of Philadelphia is hoping to have a web page listing its surplus properties for sale up and running by noon tomorrow.
This is the web site the district will use to sell 27 closed school buildings. Some have already received interest. Drexel University was looking at University City High School (photo), and Temple University has its eye on William Penn High.
School district spokesman Fernando Gallard says the web site will spell out the steps for potential buyers:
"We will be asking everyone -- anyone who is interested, Temple or anyone else who might be inetersted in these properties -- to go through the process that is going to be available on the web site."
The site will offer seven properties for expedited sale within a year, 20 for standard sale, and an
option to buy the entire portfolio of 27 schools at once (see related story).
