Phila.'s Police Commissioner Calls for Reform on the Force
Philadelphia's top cop says he's preparing a plan to rein in corruption on the force.
KYW's Mike DeNardo reports with charges just filed against a K9 cop for stealing cash from a bar safe, and officers busted this month for stealing heroin from drug dealers, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says he's devising a plan to help weed out bad cops:
"It's a few people. It's not the majority of people. But the few affect the many. And we're not going to sit here and have press conferences like this day after day about inappropriate actions -- criminal actions on the part of police officers."
Ramsey says he's talked to Mayor Nutter about the issue. He says there are unethical people in every profession -- but Ramsey says police officers have a unique responsibility and the department can't afford a single corrupt officer.
