Phila. Boys Choir Readies for China Trip
The Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale is preparing for its annual international goodwill tour. This year, the destination is China, where they will perform from August 3rd through 12th.
KYW's Kim Glovas reports the boys were dressed in shorts and t-shirts, but there was nothing casual about their singing. They were too busy practicing to talk to a reporter, but their parents had no such distractions.
Liz McWilliams' son, 11-year-old Sean, has been with the group for a year:
"He sings at home all the time, so he's always interested in music. So I said try out for it! He was a little shy about it because he didn't want to travel, but when he found out they were going to China, he wanted to go -- and he's been doing great. Loves it."
The boys perform under the direction of Jeffrey Smith.
Their trip will include a stop in Shanghai for the World Expo, and side trips to the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square.
