Phil Martelli, Ed Rendell Believe Joe Paterno Statue Should Be Removed

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – St. Joseph's basketball coach Phil Martelli and former Pennsylvania Governer Ed Rendell believe that the discoveries in the recent report about Penn State football are reason enough to remove the Joe Paterno statue from campus.
Both men, speaking to 94WIP's Angelo Cataldi and the WIP Morning Show, expressed their thoughts Friday morning.
"It's a tough call, but I think they probably should [remove the statue], but I would leave his name on the library, because the library represents the good," Rendell said.
"I wholeheartedly agree with [removing the statue]. It's a black mark," Martelli said of the statue. "I do believe so much of what [Paterno] did was for the good; the greater good ... I don't carry the title of coach easily today."
