Peter Gammons Would Bet On A-Rod Never Playing Again
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Alex Rodriguez's name is once again in the news, as Major League Baseball has begun an investigation of 20 players who were named as being clients of the Miami anti-aging clinic Biogenesis.
Between the latest controversy, his performance decline, and his hip injury, it might spell the end of A-Rod's career in MLB. In fact, Peter Gammons says he'd bet on it.
"If I had to go to a bookie and bet, I would say [Rodriguez will not play again]," Gammons told Angelo Cataldi and the WIP Morning Show on Thursday. "I mean that hip, I want to see if he can come back from the hip injury. I think that's a serious issue, but I also think that, I just think there is so much involved legally and so forth."
Rodriguez isn't the only player on the list of 20 that has been suspected of PED use in the past, but he's certainly the most controversial.
"There have been people that have suggested to me, that part of this is when A-Rod worked out a lot of kids around that clinic and around the University of Miami, and in his defense A-Rod loves working with young players," Gammons said. "He loves it, but if those were exposed to that stuff and A-Rod was responsible for them going there then I think they would really go hard after him and make it very difficult."
