People Flock To 30th Street Station To Head Home After The Holiday
Philadelphia (CBS) – The Sunday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year with millions of people taking to the roads, rails and sky.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the train station, many travelers were still feeling the joy of the holiday and were prepared for any delays ahead.
Mike is taking the train all the way back to Hastings, Nebraska; a 36 hour trip.
But he's just thankful he made it here the first place following his 42-hour odyssey to Philadelphia.
"Coming out here, a bridge burnt in Iowa so they re-routed us into Chicago and we missed our connecting train here. Choices were hop another train or spend the day in a motel. So I hopped another trained, ticked off all the conductors because I had the wrong ticket, ended up in New York and finally got back here last Saturday."
But he says the time with his daughter made it all worth it.
For Claire it has been a case of planes, trains and automobiles.
"I few from Syracuse to Philadelphia Airport, took a cab here and am going back to Wilmington by train."
But she's thankful that everything has been running on time.
Not everyone is that fortunate.
Greg is heading back to college in Fairfield, Connecticut.
"Well there's a two hour delay right now, but other than that, it's been fine."
But preparing for delays is part of the journey.
"I am going to read in a minute, just checking the internet and stuff real quick. I have some work to do for school. I'll probably get started on that."
Good idea, since he has to be in class Monday no matter when he gets home.
