People Come Together In Solebury To Identify Stolen Jewelry

By Trang Do

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- A long line of hopeful people waited inside Solebury Township municipal building Wednesday night to get a glimpse of a treasure trove of stolen goods.

"These are all victims of burglaries in mostly Bucks County and probably Montgomery and Chester County as well," said Det. Cpl. Jonathan Koretzky of the Solebury Township Police Department. "They were invited out just because they are victims of burglaries to try to identify any type of jewelry that might have been stolen."

One victim, who didn't want to be identified, wasn't able to recover about $5,000 in expensive jewelry, but was able to claim some very sentimental items that she thought were lost forever.

"A jewelry box that my husband had given to me when we were dating and so that was real important," she said.

"I have my father's Mickey Mouse watch," she added. "He's no longer with us, but it was something he were all the time so that had some great sentimental value."

A surveillance camera at one of the homes captured the suspect's car. Detectives found dozens of pieces of jewelry inside. They found even more items at area pawn shops.

"A lot of items have been identified and the owners will be getting those back in the near future," Koretzky said.

Police arrested William Dalton III in connection with break-ins in Solebury, Wrightstown and Whitemarsh Townships. He's facing 44 charges including burglary, theft, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property.

With some items still unclaimed, police are looking into whether Dalton could be responsible for more burglaries in the area.
