Pennsylvania's Hurricane Sandy Death Toll Increased To 9
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A coroner in eastern Pennsylvania says there have been two more deaths from Superstorm Sandy.
Officials in Lehigh County announced the deaths Wednesday, bringing the state's storm death toll to nine.
The coroner's office says 48-year-old Lower Macungie Township resident Tammy Kerosetz was pronounced dead at her home due to carbon monoxide poisoning Tuesday evening. Authorities say she was overcome by exhaust from a portable generator.
The coroner says 86-year-old South Whitehall Township resident Theresa Schlitzer was pronounced dead of hypothermia Tuesday after being found unresponsive in her yard following prolonged exposure to the storm.
Power crews are still working to restore power to thousands of customers as people around the state clean up from the storm. The number of outages statewide was still more than 800,000 Wednesday morning.
