Pennsylvania Weather: Bucks County Residents Begin Digging Out From Over Foot Of Snow
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- Conditions in Bucks County are improving as people dig out. The snow continued on and off through dinnertime in Bucks County.
Bucks emergency management saying they responded to nearly 1,000 calls since midnight. Still, most of the people we talked with found some time to make the best of the snow day.
Tuesday morning, snow continued to blanket Bucks County as many saw more than a foot of snow since Sunday.
"I'm a big fan, the little boy comes out in me when the snow falls," said Doylestown resident Adam Lopez.
Shovels and snowblowers were being put to good use early even before the flakes finished flying.
"It's melting a bit now and it's a lot better than it was yesterday at this time," said Tana Wentzel.
By midday, the plows had cleared Main Street in downtown Doylestown as the kids ventured out to enjoy the winter wonderland left behind.
"I was excited to go sledding or build a snowman," one child said.
And it didn't stop as the sun set.
"I'm 7-and-half and I've never been sledding before like this," Stella Kennedy said.
"I grew up here, went sledding a lot with my brothers and sisters here so now it's great to have my kids out enjoying it the way we did," Mike Camburn said.
And whether this was your first snow or just your first snow this year, everyone is trying to enjoy it while it lasts.
The concern overnight is that the streets are mostly clear but they have that sheen to them. They are wet right now.
Emergency officials in Bucks County are worried that as those temperatures dip, all this water on the roadways and the sidewalks will turn to ice-making conditions slippery.
They're warning the public not to let their guard down.
CBS3's Alicia Roberts reports.
