2 PSPCA Shelters Offer Free Pet Adoptions This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Back in July, the PSPCA waived adoption fees one weekend for most of it's pets (see related story).  It was so successful 500 animals found new homes.

Spokeswoman Wendy Marano says a similar event is being held Saturday and Sunday at both of the PSPCA's facilities on Erie and Hunting Park Avenues. Doors are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"It's absolutely free. And what you get with that: all of the animals are spayed or neutered, they all have their current vaccination and you get a month of free pet insurance. So it's a pretty good deal."

Potential owners will have to go through a screening process to fit the right pet with the right owner, but Marano says it's very easy.

There are hundreds of dogs, cats and 30 rabbits up for adoption.
