UPPER PROVIDENCE, Pa. (CBS) -- Dozens of parks in Pennsylvania will be receiving state funding for various conservation and recreation projects.
Governor Corbett travelled to Schuylkill River Park in Upper Providence to announce that $31 million in grant money is being earmarked for parks and recreational areas across the state.
"They are going to provide funding for 43 trail projects. 122 parks across the Commonwealth; A dozen river conservation projects, 41 heritage parks and greenways; And we'll be helping to preserve more than three thousand acres of open space in our state."
Some of the grant money is coming from the oil and gas industry, which is under fire from conservationists in the Marcellus shale region.
