Pennsylvania Officials Spraying Bacteria To Combat Pesky Biting Gnats

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- In Northampton County, spraying is taking place to fight black flies. They're also known as biting gnats and they can become very pesky during the warmer months.

Helicopters are spraying bacteria over waterways.

Disease-Carrying 'Kissing Bug' Has Made Its Way North, Including Pennsylvania, Delaware, CDC Warns

The bacteria is lethal to black fly larva but is non-toxic to fish.
