Pennsylvania Councilman Explains Why He's Attending Event In NYC He Previously Avoided

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Politicians from Philadelphia and all across the state are gathered in Manhattan this weekend for the annual "Pennsylvania Society" gathering. Among those there is a retiring city councilman who until now avoided the event.
First District Councilman Frank DiCicco has stayed away from the Pennsylvania Society weekend of parties, networking and of course, shopping for many years. DiCicco feels it should be held in Pennsylvania, not New York.
"I just don't get the fact that we're spending $20 million every year in Manhattan for a three-day--whatever that is called—seminar, or whatever."
But for the first time, DiCicco has gone up to New York for the Pennsylvania Society. He retires at the year's end and is starting his own political consultancy.
"I'm breaking down because I'm going to be in the private sector in 21 days. So hey, I tried to change it; I wasn't successful. So I'm joining the crowd," DiCicco explains.
But will he be trying to drum up business for his consultancy?
"Without a doubt. Absolutely," DiCicco says.
