Pennsylvania Convention Center Hosts Special Libraries Conference

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Thousands of information specialists are at the Pennsylvania Convention Center through Wednesday for the annual conference of the Special Libraries Association.

Many so-called information professionals from corporations, law schools, medical schools, federal and state governments are gathering at the Convention Center for the Special Libraries Conference.

"All of those organizations have information professionals whose job it is to gather, synthesize information and give it to their clients to help them do their jobs better," said Rebecca Varga, Library Manager for the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

In addition to an exhibition of the latest in information gathering technology, CCO Doug Newcomb says the attendees are also getting the latest in training.

"For example, social networking. What are the best ways to use this to advance your company or spread the word about something?" Newcomb said.
