PennDOT's Late Thursdays for Voter ID Cards Begin Sept. 27th

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- So many Philadelphians need voter IDs to comply with the new state voter ID law that Penndot is keeping some of its locations open late to handle the work.
The five Pennsylvania Department of Transportation photo and exam centers in Philadelphia will stay open until 7pm on Thursdays, from September 27th until November 8th (see related story).
Penndot spokeswoman Jan McKnight says that's nearly three extra hours per week to get in to get your voter ID card, but it's only in Philadelphia.
"By and large, without a doubt, the vast majority of customers who are interested in obtaining IDs for voting purposes come from Philadelphia county," she explained.
Those offices are on Arch Street, South Columbus Boulevard, Island Avenue, Levick Street, and Ogontz Avenue. She says if you are a registered voter with proper identification, you can get a voter ID card the same night.
