Penndot Warns Area Late-Night Drivers of Pending Paving Projects

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is this week launching more road improvement projects that could delay or detour late-night drivers in center city Philadelphia, Chester County, and Delaware County.
No one likes driving on worn-out roads, but many drivers don't like the solution either: closing lanes on those roads so they can be repaved.
Penndot spokesman Charles Metzger says the agency tries to minimize disruptions, but the work has to get done sometime.
"Work will be done primarily at night to make it easier on the traveling public," Metzger tells KYW Newsradio.
Roads under repair this week include Routes 10 and 926 in Lower Oxford, Upper Oxford, West Fallowfield, Highland, and Londonderry townships.
Also, Market Street, Chestnut Street, and Walnut Street in center city Philadelphia are getting a facelift.
In all, Metzger says, 200 miles of road in the area are scheduled for upgrades between now and August 2013.
