PennDOT To Begin Construction On Route 422 Near Turnpike Overpass
TREDYFFRIN TWP., Pa. (CBS) - Motorists can expect congested conditions along a section of westbound Route 422 in Chester County starting tonight and continuing through Saturday evening as road crews work to replace one lane of the concrete road surface.
PennDOT's Gene Blaum says road crews have been working on and off on both sides of Route 422 between the First Avenue exit and the Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass in Tredyffrin Township for months as a result of sink hole damage in that area.
Now, Blaum says crews are ready to replace about 280 feet of concrete in the right lane of the westbound side of Route 422 and they'll start work Thursday night at 8.
"Remove all the damaged concrete from that westbound right lane, prepare the area and then pour new concrete pavement onto the highway, and then allow a sufficient amount of time for that concrete to cure properly, harden so that we can put traffic back on it."
Blaum says one lane of traffic will get by during the night-time operations on Thursday and Friday and all day Saturday.
But he cautions motorists should consider alternative routes because traffic could start to back up onto the ramp from the Schuylkill Expressway to Route 422, especially during the day on Saturday.
