Penn State Offers Advice To Job Seekers With 'PSU' On Their Résumés

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (CBS) -- Penn State has some fresh advice for job seekers with ties to the university: how they should navigate the choppy waters created by the child sex abuse scandal.

Right in the middle of the Penn State University Career Services web page is a link to a letter from senior director Jeff Garis.  It says that while his office has not seen any evidence of job or internship offers being retracted because of the Sandusky allegations (see related story), it's gotten calls from job seekers worried about that scenario.

The letter advises applicants to stress that they are primarily concerned about any victims, secondarily about the school, but to focus on the skills and professional qualities he or she brings to bear.

The letter also reminds employers of the university's long track record of student preparation, and that the Wall Street Journal found  last year that Penn State was #1 among firms hiring new college graduates.
