Penn State To Honor Joe Paterno Before Temple Game
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Penn State football has been reluctant to acknowledge Joe Paterno since he was fired in November of 2011 following the public findings of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Well, that is about to change.
According to OnwardState.com, Penn State plans to honor Paterno during the team's third game on September 17th (12 p.m.) against Temple at Beaver Stadium.
Paterno, as part of the NCAA sanctions given to the Nittany Lions, was forced to vacate all of his wins from 1998 to 2011. However, the NCAA reversed its decision on January 16th, 2015 as part of a settlement and restored Paterno's wins.

Paterno died from lung cancer in January of 2012, just two months after he was fired.
Penn State will reportedly honor the 50th anniversary of Paterno's first game as head coach. Paterno took over as the Nittany Lions head coach in February of 1966.
