Penn State Execs To Turn Themselves In To Police
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Penn State's athletic director and vice-president for finance have stepped down from their positions at the university. They are expected to turn themselves in, this morning, to face charges they covered up sexual abuse by the football team's former defensive coordinator (see related story).
When Tim Curley (pictured, right) and Gary Schultz (pictured, middle) turn themselves in, Penn State will be picking up the tab for their lawyers. The University says it has insurance that covers this type of legal expense.

The school's president has said the two have his unconditional support. Some Penn State boosters have been upset by the president's response and have started an online petition calling for his resignation.
The charges against Curley and Schultz stem from their alleged failure to report suspected child abuse by former coach Jerry Sandusky. Schultz's attorney says he'll seek dismissal of the charge against his client, arguing that, as a vice president, Schultz was not subject to the mandatory reporting law and, besides, the statute of limitations has run out (see related story). Curley's attorney also denied any wrong doing on his client's part.
Meanwhile , Sandusky -- once considered the likely successor to coach Joe Paterno -- has been barred from campus.
