Penn State Drops From Top Spot On List Of Top Party Schools
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (CBS) - Penn State University remains in the top 10, but it's losing ground in an annual list of top party schools. Some Nittany Lions fans will not be crying in their beer, as they discuss the survey filled out by more than 120,000 students across the country.
Students might high five, but administrators and parents give thumbs down to one portion of The Princeton Review's annual rankings, which include top party schools.
Ohio University tops the list this year. Penn State was 7th; just two years ago, it was ranked the top party school.
Executive Director Roger Williams of the Penn State Alumni Association says the rankings pump up what amounts to the Princeton Review's commercial enterprise, to sell its guidebook, "And, accordingly, you have to have a new number one drinking school duly appointed every year."
The Princeton Review's list includes dozens of categories. Penn State did take top honors for everyone plays intramural sports, and it places in the top five for packing stadiums, career and health services. Bryn Mawr College has the best dorms, and is 4th for best campus food. Swarthmore College offers the best financial aid. Princeton is number two for financial aid and fifth for most beautiful campus.
