Penn Museum To Reopen China Show, Complete With Promised Mummies
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology will reopen its "Silk Road" exhibit next Friday, complete with all of the artifacts and mummies from China.
The landmark "Secrets of the Silk Road" exhibit opened last week at the Penn Museum without its artifacts and mummies from China (see related story).
But beginning next Friday at 1 p.m., the public will be able to see all of the original artifacts and the two mummies as they were supposed to be originally displayed.
"The delay in the opening with the full materials was a miscommunication," says Pam Kosty, assistant director for public information for the museum. "And we're really thrilled that that was resolved."
The Penn Museum will extend its hours to accommodate all who want to see the exhibit, which is making its East Coast premiere before heading back to China.
It will run through March 15th, then continue from March 17th through the 28th with most of the artifacts but not the two mummies.
