BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ (CBS) – A Pemberton Township woman has been charged with driving under the influence of narcotics and causing the death of another driver during a head-on collision in February.
Shannon M. Sidorek, 29, was taken into custody on June 8, after an investigation revealed that she was traveling eastbound on Route 530 (also known as the Pemberton Bypass) around 3:30 p.m. on February 28, 2012 when she veered across the center lane and struck a vehicle heading in the opposite direction.
Elizabeth Smith, an 81-year-old woman from Moorestown, died at the scene of the accident. Sidorek was extracted from her 1997 Acura and flown to a Trenton hospital. Blood tests showed that she was under the influence of morphine and oxycontin at the time of the collision.
