Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car On The Roosevelt Boulevard

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car on the Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning.
The deadly accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. in the northbound inner lanes of the Boulevard near Welsh Road.
Authorities say the unidentified 43-year-old woman was attempting to cross the Boulevard when she was struck by a car. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say it was raining at the time of the deadly accident and that the victim reportedly ignored a red light and walked into the path of oncoming traffic.
The driver did stop at the scene and has not been charged with any crime.
Police have not released the name of the victim in Friday's deadly accident.
This is the third fatality in the area involving a pedestrian since May.
In September, police say a 44-year-old woman was killed at Roosevelt Boulevard and Strahle Street as she was walking with her four-year-old son.
In May, 33-year-old Joshua Hess was killed after being struck by a car at Roosevelt Boulevard and Welsh Road.
Friday's deadly accident remains under police investigation.
