PECO, Temple University Give Jolt To Scholars
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - This afternoon, PECO and Temple University will applaud more than a dozen students whose college careers come with what you might call a power boost.
The PECO Scholars Program was established in 2010, says the company's Ben Armstrong, with an eye toward providing a little extra financial boost for some high-achieving students, 15 this academic year, for whom other grants had fallen a bit short.
Armstrong says Temple students in certain study areas are eligible. "It's all Fox School of Business and Management undergraduate majors are eligible as well as select majors in the College of Liberal Arts. But in addition to that we want to make sure that the funding PECO is providing is going to students in our region."
That is to say, PECO's service footprint in the city and suburbs. The program has helped 36 students in its history for a total of $75,000.
