Paul Ryan Addresses The Pennsylvania Delegation Breakfast
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Day one of the Republican National Convention gives a hint at how important the Keystone State will be in the November election, as Speaker of the House and 2012 vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan addressed the Pennsylvania delegation breakfast.
The Wisconsin Congressman stressed the importance of this election.
"We see a country where our fellow citizens – seven out of 10 of them – think this country is headed in the wrong direction. So the question in these kinds of moments and these kinds of times, is what are you gonna do about it?"
Ryan's speech to the Pennsylvania delegation touched on everything from poverty to jobs to taxes to government regulation to national security.
Pennsylvania Republican Party Chairman Rob Gleason, asked about how to bring the moderate Philadelphia suburban Republican under the Trump tent, says continue to talk about improving employment.
"Paul even eluded to it, how we're just not getting there, the middle class is short, $40,000 to $50,000 a year on what they will be making."
The other issue where Republicans will win, Gleason says, is safety and security.
