Patriot Golf Day Plans
If your Labor Day weekend schedule include a round of golf or two, don't forget you have a chance to help fund scholarships for children and spouses of service men and women who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.
It is Patriot Golf Day weekend. All it takes is a $1 donation, although you are free to give more.
During the past five years, Patriot Golf Day has raised more than $12.8 million dollars and the Folds of Honor Foundation has awarded more than 3,500 scholarships. Its founder, PGA Professional Dan Rooney, is a former F-16 Fighter Pilot who did three tours in Iraq.
No matter what your political views were about that war, here's the chance to make a difference in the lives family members of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Quite a few courses around the region, public and private, are participating. Some will be raising additional funds in interesting ways. At Makefield Highlands, for example, there'll be a closest to the pin contest on the par-3 third hole all weekend. A $5 donation gets you in... and the winner each day will receive a foursome of golf and a Titleist Lightweight Stand Bag.
You can find a complete list of participating courses state-by-state by clicking here.
