PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey criticized Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for wading into the presidential campaign and calling Donald Trump a 'faker' with an 'ego'.
Toomey, during an interview with Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said Ginsburg's comments were out of line.
"Completely inappropriate. If Donald Trump becomes the President of the United States, then there inevitably will be legal challenges regarding his policies. There will certainly be challenges to some of the things he will do. Some of them, most likely, will get to the Supreme Court. How can the American people be confident that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is going to objective when she's pulled an Alec Baldwin on his candidacy."
He believes it sheds light on how the more left-leaning justices on the court reach their decisions.
"The liberals on the Court decide the policy outcome that they prefer and then they invent a rationale to get there. I wish it weren't the case. That is exactly the opposite of what a judge and justice is a supposed to do, but time and time again, that's what happens."
Regarding his own race for re-election to the Senate against Democrat Katie McGinty, Toomey stated he is taking nothing for granted.
"I am skeptical about the polls. They're all over the place. Today there is a poll that has me up ten. Yesterday there was a poll that has me down four. Who knows where this really is? This is going to be close. This is going to be competitive because it's Pennsylvania."
