Parx Casino Is Expanding Again
BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - The second phase of expansion is underway at Parx in Bensalem and casino officials say it will mean more gaming space for gamblers, who continue to pack the facility.
The Bucks County gaming hall already boasts the largest number of table games in Pennsylvania and more than 3,500 slot machines, but casino officials say there's always room for more. Construction is underway on an additional 195,000 square feet of space that will include gaming, entertainment and amenities for Parx employees.
"We have broken ground and we have so many exciting things about to come," says spokeswoman Carrie Nork Minelli. "We have three new restaurants on the horizon, additional gaming space and probably in a week or so I'll be able to announce which restaurants."
Minelli says they're listening to their customers, "They definitely want to see some more table games, some more slot machines -- all of our customers do love that. They do want to see a little bit more dining, a little bit more excitement. I mean, like we don't give them enough already, right?"
The addition will be located in the main casino building and is expected to open next summer. Parx has also submitted plans to Bensalem for a four-story parking garage that would provide more than two thousand spaces. The casino has more than seven thousand parking spaces now.
