Breezy and partly cloudy skies in Philadelphia Monday. Here's the full forecast.
A strong cold front moved through the area Monday morning while it hasn't brought much in the way of needed rainfall, we are feeling the winds pick up big time as the front moves offshore this afternoon. The big story with this cold front is that the much cooler weather headed our way behind it later Monday night and over the next few days.
We started mild this Monday morning, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s, but by late afternoon, temperatures will drop to the 50s, and the wind will make it feel 5-10 degrees colder.
Expect a lot of leaves to come down this afternoon and you may need to chase the trash can lid down the road. We'll start to really feel the cold overnight, as the temperatures drop into the 40s.
Highs will struggle to reach the upper 50s by Tuesday and Wednesday, the coldest days of fall so far. Our average high this time of the year is in the upper 60's. We do get back to seasonable temperatures by Friday and then another nice weekend warmup with highs climbing back to the 70s.
This will also be a very dry and sunny week with a mix of sun and clouds Monday, more clouds Tuesday with the cold air aloft, but then bright and sunny, dry conditions through the weekend. This will not help what is quickly coming to a moderate and even severe drought for parts of the area, especially portions of Burlington and Atlantic counties.
