Part Of Pa. Convention Center Transformed Into Media Center For Coverage Of Papal Visit
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Approximately 5,000 journalists are credentialed for the World Meeting of Families conference and papal visit. A giant media room to accommodate members of the press has been set up inside the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Exhibit Hall A has been transformed into a media center.
"The media is definitely able to come here and plug in," says Tom Hutchinson, Director of Production Services at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. "You see all the outlets on the table to plug in either their digital recording devices, their computers, their cameras if they need to upload and get the information to their respective outlets across the world."
And there is a stage for announcements or updates.
There is also an area where press covering papal events will go through security and board buses to events.
