Parent Admits Leaving Child In Running Car Outside Bucks Casino
BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Another parent has pleaded guilty to leaving a child inside a car while he gambled at the Parx Casino in Bucks County this past year.
Through his attorney, Donald Waige, 60, of Philadelphia (above) told the judge he was sorry for leaving his 15-month-old child inside the idling car in mid-June.
Waige pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of child endangerment and was sentenced to 18 months probation, ordered to undergo parenting classes, and was banned from the gambling hall.
Bucks County prosecutor Maureen Spang says the child was in the car for about an hour.
"(Waige) had received, I believe, a ten-dollar comp, and he was trying to activate that on his card, ended up going to a number of machines to try to do that, and eventually came back out to the vehicle while the police were there," she told KYW Newsradio.
The child was not hurt.
Waige is the now the fourth person to plead guilty to leaving a child inside a car outside the casino in recent months. All of them have received probation.
